Hi there,
It’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve closed the doors in Bryanston and we thought it’s about time to let you know what we’ve been up to and what we’ve been working on.
ROAD TO MOZAM
NORTHERN KZN/ MOZAMBIQUE
While a bunch of you were warming up for what turned out to be a great Sani2c, we were warming up for our biggest trip to Mozambique so far. Fortunately, we had equally as good weather as Sani enjoyed with clear skies and the only wind experienced was on our back, helping us along.
We’ve made some small route changes to better include all this pristine expanse has to offer while adding on extra distance for those legs that can go the extra mile. The tour still ended with the delicious seafood feast at Come to See with our feet in the sand, which is always a welcome treat!
DISCOVER THE DESERT
NAMIBIA
We didn’t have much time before we changed out the fat bikes for our brand-new plus sized bikes and headed to Namibia for our first trip. We arrived in somewhat unseasonal rains in the desert which firstly made for some beautiful landscapes, and secondly, for some hard-pack riding for the first group to enjoy.
This route has had a complete revamp from last year, which means more mileage and no car transfers once we start riding, so it was up to us to get to Swakopmund… and what a proper ride it turned out to be. We went for a short warm-up ride on day one and then it was onto three days of 75km or more to get us through the rolling desert to the picturesque seaside. The terrain was spectacular, time amongst friends was priceless and the beers were certainly well deserved at the end of each day. If you’re part of one of the next two desert rides, best get in some last-minute training!
VICTORIA FALLS EXPLORATION
ZIMBABWE
So what’s next after these first tours? Well, we’ve had our eye on another neighbour to the North that could offer some great opportunities and unforgettable trails which we’ve made the first visit to.
At the same time, we also feel we may have overlooked our own backyard and the prospect of shorter, easier trips to these spots. It will be tough to have to recce these locations for the best riding they can offer, so we might have to swing a leg over our new E-Bikes to help us along.
Looking forward to seeing you on the next epic adventure,
Jared Cavé
